** Updated 29 June 2020 **

Latest changes (see below for
earlier changes):

(30 May 2020): Iridium 96 (27376,
2002-005E) decayed on 30 May 2020.

Summary of current Iridium constellation
status:

Iridium Next:
75 satellites have so far been launched , and all
orbital planes are now complete.
6 further satellites (Iridiums 174, 177, 178, 179, 181 and 182)
remain as on ground spares.
On 24 June 2020, Relativity Space announced that it had signed a
contract with Iridium for up to 6 launches of the on ground spare
satellites as needed between 2023 and 2030.

Original Iridium:
A total of 95 satellites were launched; none now remain
operational.
- 65 satellites have been de-orbited (retired) following
replacement by Iridium Next in 2017, 2018 and 2019. 61 out of
these have so far re-entered (decayed). It may be many months
before the rest decay.
- 25 satellites failed on-orbit and can no longer be controlled.
It will be many years before the last of these decay.
- 3 satellites rentered between 2000 and 2002 after failing to
reach operational orbit.
- 2 failed satellites were deliberately deorbited in 2001 and
2003.

my Iridium Launch Chronology.
There is now also a summary of Iridium
Failures.
